Beer has its own life and culture, with a rich history dating back to 6000 B.C. A Craft Beer is one made with the enthusiasm and passion to be different, outside of the norm. A Craft Brewer is one that takes a beer from history and puts a spin on it to make it their own. A Brewer that only uses the highest quality ingredients in the effort to create a beer that can be enjoyed by many.
Whether you are a beer aficionado or just to explore and learn more about your favorite beverage, we have the right beer for you. And our staff is well trained and ready to explain the difference between an IPA and a Porter, and even give you a little background and history of the beer you are about to enjoy. They’ll also describe the style, give you a sample of one on draft, and then recommend a few others.
We take our commitment to provide you with a friendly and knowledgeable staff very seriously. All of our staff goes through a rigorous training process known as “Beer School” , in order to confidently provide you with the best beer to fit your tastes, it is imperative that we know everything there is to know about beer in order to serve you best. It doesn’t take long before you start to consider the WOB staff your WOB friends.
Passion, hard work, and a thirst for a good beer drive us to bring in the best products from around the world to your local World of Beer.

I don't know what this guy above is thinking. World of beer is great. The service is not just about promptness but also about knowledge. The ppl there are very knowledgeable about the beer and are always happy to help me find something new and interest that I wouldn't normally try. Sometimes on the weekends it can get crazy, but that's a bar. Things happen. I have been there many times and love the ppl. The staff is nice, the music is cool, and the atmosphere is amazing. Def a regular place for me.

I was excited when I heard that World of Beer would be opening in Columbia. I'm an avid craft beer enthusiast and this is just what we needed. Unfortunately, beer quality and selection is not everything. My first experience at WOB was on Christmas Eve. I called ahead of time to see if they'd be opened was was assured they were open until 2 AM. I went there with a friend and my girlfriend at around 9PM and we were looked at with unwelcoming glares. The girl came up and told us we could order one but then we'd have to go because it was Christmas Eve, despite what I had been told earlier on the phone. I can totally understand that, but they were visibly mad we came in instead of happy to see potential long-term customers. Since then, I've been there about 4 more times due to the great selection of beer. But the service leaves something to be desired. There is obviously no management presence there because it seems more like a social hour for the employees than a business. Often times, the employees are huddled together talking and laughing while my friends and I wait to get served. Or the bartenders and servers are talking to a couple of their friends for a prolonged period. Sometimes it's hard to even get one of the bartenders to look at you to ask for service. And this is when it is SLOW. I've only gone there early when it is slow and this still happens. On two occasions after finishing my beer, the bartender actually came up and took my glass and didn't even ask if I wanted anything else. I'm not joking. And this happened to my friend on a couple of occasions as well as to my girlfriend. It's like pulling teeth to get these bartenders to be more aware of the customers sitting right there at the bar instead of socializing among themselves. This establishment could be great if they are trained to be more friendly and customer service-oriented. The bartenders are not acting professionally. It's more like a bunch of kids running a bar with no real direction or leadership. I don't really feel comfortable there but keep giving it a chance nonetheless. Something needs to change there soon or this place will not last another year.
