Sheldon was raised in a family full of artists and feels as if art and inspiration is all around us, sometimes you just have to look for it. Its obvious that Sheldon loves the collaborative efforts that take place between the artist and the customer because it shows in his unique style often leading to custom tattoos and returning customers.

Fourth Generation Artist

I grew up as a fourth generation artist. My great grandmother traveled the world studying the ways of Asian paintings from house furniture to beautifully framed canvas. Other art forms I was raised around included nature paintings, wood carvings, and doll making with handmade outfits.

Not only is Sheldon an alumnus of the University
of South Carolina, he studies the art of tattooing. Whether its learning a new technique to enhance color or creating a custom abstract piece, Skool-Boi has definitely earned his nickname.

I had looked into a tattoo apprenticeship before, but the cost was out of reach at the time. I went to several interviews and eventually became a “tattoo apprentice”; I’ve been tattooing steadily since that day and I love every minute of it. My first experience putting needle to skin was tattooing my self, and since then I’ve been at the mercy of tattoo machines eighty times or so.

I learned almost everything I know from the amazing artist who tattooed the Gypsy sugar skull on my arm, Gus Rich. My two other friends and role models are Eric Michalovic, who tattooed the traditional panther on my left hand and wrist, and Sushil Patel who did the custom script on my chest. I’ve been drawn to the traditional style of tattooing since I began to learn more about the industry and its old school ways. I would say traditional color is my favorite style of tattooing, but I enjoy being able to make tattoos of all sorts.

The art work in the photo album looks really good ~ I've been wanting to get some ink done, definitely tempted now! Thanks for the info!
